Restoring What Was Lost Through God’s Power

Restoring What Was Lost Through God’s Power

Today’s Scripture

“For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. So they began to celebrate.”

— Luke 15:24

Reflection

In life, it’s easy to feel like certain things are too far gone—our dreams, our relationships, or even our faith. But with God, anything that was lost can be found. What was once broken, God can restore. Trust in His power to redeem every part of your story, no matter how shattered it may seem.

One of the most powerful illustrations of this truth is found in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, shared in Luke 15. Jesus paints a picture of a young man who makes reckless choices, squandering his inheritance and losing his way. When he finally reaches rock bottom, he decides to return home, expecting shame but hoping for a sliver of mercy. Instead, his father runs to him, filled with compassion, and throws a celebration in honor of his return.

This story is a beautiful reminder that no matter how far we may drift—whether lost in life, faith, or spirit—God’s redeeming love will always welcome us back. Nothing in our past is too broken for God to fix. He doesn’t meet us with condemnation, but with open arms and grace that surpasses our mistakes.

Here are 10 ways to restore what was lost through God’s power:

1. Prayer and Faith:

Surrender your losses to God in prayer, trusting His ability to restore. Faith is a powerful tool that opens doors to God’s intervention (Matthew 21:22).

2. Repentance and Obedience:

Sometimes losses are tied to our own disobedience. Returning to God with a repentant heart can lead to restoration, just as He restored Israel after they repented (Joel 2:12-25).

3. Seek God’s Presence:

In God’s presence, there is fullness of joy, guidance, and restoration. Spending time in worship and meditation on God’s Word can bring a sense of renewal (Psalm 16:11).

4. Forgive and Release:

Restoration often begins with letting go of bitterness or unforgiveness. Forgiving others opens your heart to receive God’s healing and restoration (Ephesians 4:32).

5. Rely on God’s Timing:

Restoration may not happen immediately, but God’s timing is perfect. Trust His process and be patient, knowing He will work everything for good (Ecclesiastes 3:11, Romans 8:28).

6. Stand on God’s Promises:

Meditate on and declare Scriptures that speak of God’s power to restore, like Joel 2:25 (“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten”) and Isaiah 61:7 (“Instead of shame, you will receive a double portion”).

7. Align Your Heart with God’s Will:

Allow God to shape your desires to align with His will. When we seek God’s kingdom first, He promises to add what we need (Matthew 6:33).

8. Act with Faith:

Step out and do what you can while trusting God to do the rest. Whether it’s rebuilding relationships or pursuing new opportunities, God blesses our faithful action (James 2:17).

9. Connect with a Faith Community:

Surround yourself with believers who will pray for you, encourage you, and support your journey of restoration. There is strength in unity (Galatians 6:2).

10. Praise Him in the Waiting:

Praising God, even before the restoration comes, is an act of faith that moves God’s heart. Praise and gratitude shift your focus from what’s lost to God’s power and promises (Psalm 34:1).

God’s power is limitless, and He is in the business of making all things new. Restoring what was lost often involves a journey of trust, patience, and obedience, but God promises that He will never fail those who seek Him.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your endless grace. Lord, please forgive me for all my sins and shortcomings. Help me to totally forgive anyone that I haven’t at this moment. Lord, When I feel lost, remind me of your unconditional love that calls me back to you. Help me to trust in your power to restore and redeem every part of my story. May I find comfort in your presence and celebrate the new life You give.

In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
